Fashion Sewing Camp, July 17-21 9AM-12:30PM

DESCRIPTION

In this five day camp, we are going to learn all about fashion. From concept to illustration to garment construction and finishing, your child will leave with a well-rounded understanding of how a garment is created.  Each camp will focus on a single designer and their contribution to fashion design and how their influence reflects what we wear today. As camp gets closer, I will mail each family a measuring guide and have you take your child's measurements so that I can get a head start on creating the basic patterns that they will use in camp.

  • Dates: July 17-21
  • Camp hours: 9AM-12:30PM, Monday - Friday
  • Ages 8-12yrs
  • All Supplies Included

To keep young designers engaged, lessons are hands-on, age appropriate, and easy to follow.
Class begins with an introduction on how to use a sewing machine, our machines are equipped with speed control and finger guards for a safe and fun environment. Students begin their first project during their first class. Throughout camp they learn how to thread the sewing machine, properly cut fabric, and use child-friendly patterns to make fashionable items during their class.*

Each child works on their project at their own pace. With a student/teacher ratio is 3:1, there is lots of guidance. The studio has six sewing stations set up allowing for each child to have an individual space with which to work and learn.

Projects progress in difficulty to build your child's sewing skills and change each camp so that students can continue to sew and learn.

DETAILS

•Please send in a snack and a drink with your child each day. If your child has an allergy, please let me know at time of registration.

• Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for camp and try to pick up your child on time at the end of class.

• Camp cancellation Policy:  Any cancellations before May 30, 2023 will be refunded.  There are no refunds for cancellations after May 30, 2023.  By continuing with registration, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.

*PROJECT COMPLETION AND ATTENDANCE
Campers must attend the entire camp in order to complete their projects.  If a camper must miss a day, you may schedule time during Open Sew Studio hours, for an additional charge, to complete their project.  While I do my best to ensure the kids projects are completed during camp, sometimes that is not possible. However, it is ultimately up to the student how they choose to spend their class time.

WAITLIST

If the camp is full, please add your name to the waitlist.  If there is enough interest, I may add an additional camp.

COVID-19 SAFETY INFORMATION

I monitor covid levels throughout the year.  If the number of cases should peak, I will require masks to be worn. Additionally, I try to keep the door open as much as possible and have an air purifier in the main room of the shop, as well as two ceiling fans running.  The studio, bathroom and shared supplies are cleaned daily.

Thank you so much for your business and placing your child in our care!
