Learn to Sew Session 1:: Get to know your machine

Thursday, September 29, 10:30 AM- Noon

In this class you will learn all the basics of sewing, including learning the parts of the sewing machine and how to use them, learn how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and troubleshoot common issues. Once you've threaded the machine you'll learn how to cut out and read a sewing pattern, learn the basics of understanding seam allowance, straight stitching and sewing along curves.

Skills you will learn

The skills you will learn in the class are how to understand a sewing machine, the concept of a seam allowance and how to sew to an accurate seam allowance, how to pin and cut fabric, how to sew in a straight line and how to sew curves as well as a general understanding of sewing patterns.

Skills expected: None, just an open mind.

Materials provided: Use of a sewing machine, sewing thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, an iron and ironing board.


*You are welcome to bring your own machine if you would like to become more familiar with it.

Minimum and max number of people for class: Min 3 / Max 4

There will be no refunds for no-shows or cancellations within 14 days of workshop. All refunds will incur a 5% cancellation fee

Skill Details: This class is suitable for those who need a refresher as well as ones who have never touched a machine before.
Materials Included: Use of a sewing machine and all necessary tools and notions.
